Description:

Great accommodation for groups, this 1852 cottage was originally the bakery and until 1921 served the needs of the people of Redruth - one of the original towns that make up Burra today. You have exclusive use of the Cottage for up to 5 people in 3 bedrooms.
The cottage is spacious with 2 separate lounges, both with TV and DVD. The large dine-in kitchen is fully equipped and has a huge slow combustion wood fire for those cold winter nights. This is a self-catering cottage. No breakfast provisions are supplied. There is a well stocked IGA supermarket in Burra that is open 9am to 5.30pm weekdays and in the mornings on weekends
The cottage has a large slate bathroom with shower and toilet. The Laundry facilities are in the big utility room that also houses the original Scotch style Baker's Oven built by Wilhelm Lowe and used by him until 1858, his wife Johanna until 1912 and her son Carl Heinrich until 1921.
Outside there is half an acre of lovely bush garden with Gas BBQ.
Note that Burra Bakehouse is Pet Friendly and previous guests may have had pets inside the cottage.
Please note that there are internal steps in this cottage. Groups with children or elderly guests should be aware that there are steps up or down between some rooms.

A great little cottage with plenty of history. Lots of room with the two living areas. I wish I had brought my dog, she would have loved the back yard.
